This isn't charity work you fucking rube. Why should he not get paid for his talent?? This is what he does and obviously was born to do because he's a fucking genius! Asking him to do it for free is like kicking him in the balls. This is his job, hes done it for over 30 fucking years and shouldn't have to do it for free for douche bags. That's great you have a high paying job and do radio for free but obviously your show couldn't hold a candle to Phil's! I bet your show is some shit knock-off of Rush. All garbage. How can any of you say this was a bad business decision? It's all PHIL's audio not yours! Whether it goes out over the radio for free or not means nothing. He obviously wanted this to stop so that people go to his site for archived material and pay for it! Yes you were promoting for him, and for free but you should have worked out a better plan with Phil and not an "associate" who says it's alright because he may be wrong, then guess what, it's YOUR fault. Get a BSP and move on with your life.. Promote the show to your friends so they can experience it as well and don't worry about bringing more business to Phil, thats not your job. To the people that think he should do this for free and work another job to pay the bills, you are ridiculous. That would be like me saying, "Well I helped my friend pave his driveway for free I think I'll always do it for free for everybody 5 days a week and just get a different part-time job to pay the bills. GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE!!!!!

This was posted a year ago and I just now found the show and got a bsp. I think hes doing great! said on his show they pull in $1mil a year just in BSPs so i think hes alright. Beside he has other things going on as well. Just download the show from his site a move on with your life. 5 shows a week is work $10 a month, especially when you factor in all of the old material available for download as well.

Thanks for the great work Justin. I downloaded A LOT of the episodes from yout Itunes podcast and saved them on my mp3. Those episodes helped get me through my boring day of driving around at work. I still don't understand how those episodes were aired for free on public radio but now are only available for purchase. Anyhow, thanks a lot Justin!

Wow. I haven't listened to Phil Hendrie in years. The last couple of posts pretty much outline why. Poor business decisions and shortsighted radio 'business' people keep Phil from many of his old fans, and probably keep him from creating a whole lot of new ones. Meanwhile, the airwaves are bursting at the seams with 'Skippy and Frank' type shows with the same cookie cutter people spewing the same cookie-cutter crap. Like the last person said, Phil should be as big as any of the radio giants. Instead, I have no idea how to track him down on the radio dial, and I'm not really big into paying for podcasts when there's so much stuff out there on the airwaves for 'free' that I barely even have time to listen to. Some radio network that actually has some business sense needs to get Phil back. Ah well. Movin' on...

Phil is on KFI am 640 promoting some new bit character he'll be dragging out this Saturday night at 7:00 pm. PST. The promo is first person from some General Whatever, talking about the future of war 100 years from now. Wow. A fill in Saturday night gig? Guess the t.v. didn't take off like he thought it would. Maybe he'll one day get back to a decent timeslot somewhere. Justin, thanks for the work you did.

Maybe he should get a job to pay the bills and give away his non-paying talent for the joy of it like millions of people who tutor kids, clown for free, volunteer at nursing homes. Not all talent is money making. I've done talk radio as a hobby when it hasn't paid but I can hold a high paying job when needed. Does Phil have any other marketable talents?

As extrordinarily talented as phil is behind a mic, he has absolutely 0 (ZERO) business sense. This super late night syndication BS he does to pay the bills is garbage (not the show, the idea). He is reaching 1% of the population that late at night. The only people listening are the fans he had before. How many new fans does he really have and get weekly that are up that late?
And wasting so much time and energy with this BSP thing, how much money does he really make off of it after overhead and staffing is paid for?

Honestly he should let that stuff go and move forward. Listening to past clips and bits is great and all, but my best memories of phil was listening to him in early 2000, in the afternoon stuck in traffic getting me through the hours of commute time home. Listening live and wondering what he will say next is what Phil should be making his money doing. Phil should be right up there with howard stern (before sirius), rush limbaugh, dr laura making millions doing syndication. I know radio syndications doesn't make as much as it did 10 yrs ago, but you can see it making a strong comeback. He needs to drop this late night crap, start from scratch and take over afternoon radio, the biggest time market, at a time when afternoon radio sucks and is seriously lacking talent.

Lastly, Thanks Justin for the site, it was great listening to a clip every so often.

I can kind of understand the arguments from both sides as Justin Luey was using slightly shorter clips. But overall in the end I have to agree with you Kelvin. Not because we work together and not because I know Phil is not rich by any means, but because the content is his intellectual property.

Heck, I love sushi and so does my wife but... we can't afford it as much as we like.

$6.95 a month for what this man has done to improve my life is the best damn deal I think I've ever gotten. I'd probably be on prozac or some other SSRI crap if I didn't have phil to get me through dealing with all the insane socal traffic when I was a kid.

God bless Phil Hendrie for making decades of his blood sweat and tears available for only $6.95 a month.

Bummer. I found myself coming to this site on those nights Phil just wasn't hitting on all 8 cylinders on his show...like when he stoops to dull characters like Brass Villanueva or Gen./Prof. Emery Clayton. It's kinda like watching old video porn you took of your girlfriend on nights when she is O.T.R.. These podcasts reminded me why I don't start going elsewhere for my entertainment. I haven't listened to Jim Ladd on KLOS for years but I could learn.....

Short-sighted, out of touch perspective from Hendrie. Or more likely his legal peeps that were involved in the little fiasco. I have no idea but my gut instinct says that if Phil had been more directly involved, allowing him to actually understood the real dynamics of the situation, there would've been a different outcome. It's unfortunate but not surprising.

It seems like Phil Hendrie is being syndicated to more affiliates than he ever has,

The Phil Hendrie show is now being played 3 hours every night from 1 to 4am here in Toronto CANADA. This after he basically ran out of ideas, made his fortune and is now gonna squeeze even more juice out of the project?

Hendrie's become way to main stream and juggernaut establishment for me (not that he wasn't before these audios got removed) I say just link to a site which still has free hendrie audio and forget about it.

This was the biggest way that I was able to promote Phil to all of my friends and family, as his show is on too late for most people to hear in my town. This sucks that he is trying to shut down your outlet to replay his older stuff. Doesnt he realize that if he were to compile all of these into dvd's or albums or whatever, the whole lot of it would be downloaded for free anyways. Oh well, I hope that he continues to gain popularity and get a better time slot, since even I don't get to listen to his current shows, I only get the short, short clips he puts on his podcasts. Not seeing all that has gone on, I think you have been respectful throughout the process and vocal about it, and I havent heard anything from Phil's side of the story. Oh well, this sucks, the only two podcasts I listen to, one is gone.
